The hand-made, mouth blown Chardonnay glass by Waterford Crystal is designed so that this low acidity wine is delivered in a way that sets off the alcohol and rich flavours of the wine, highlighting its velvety, supple texture, emphasizing the fruit and ensuring a long, balance finish. This classic shape allows young wines to express all their invigorating freshness, while more mature wines are encouraged to deliver the nutty spicy, mineral flavours so typical of the variety. Some of the finest and most expensive dry white wines are made from this grape variety, a native of the Burgundy region which is now grown in almost all wine-producing regions worldwide.Waterford's 2006 Connoisseur Gold crystal stemware collection showcases the ultimate in luxury and, quite literally, taste. All Connoisseur Gold stemware is hand-crafted in Brazil of sparkling crystal. Skilled glassworkers blow the bowls by mouth and carefully pull the stems to Waterford's exacting standards, adding a gold band around the ankle of the impressively thin stem as the crowning touch. The Chardonnay glass, standing nine inches tall, features a 13-ounce bowl appropriate for any white wine, young or old, including Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Grigio. The tulip shape captures and holds the bouquet, while the lip sends the flavors directly to the section of the palate where they are most appreciated.
